"Printing in my pants"—an in-joke that stuck.
Meet the self-proclaimed, scantily clad printmaker, Elizabeth Hall, more commonly known as Liz. With a robust background of over 15 years in digital product design, she has recently returned to the basics, embracing the tactile joy of getting her hands dirty—or rather, inky.
Liz has rekindled her passion for fine art, diving into the world of relief printing and exploring the traditional technique of linocut. This approach, a stark departure from the precision of her digital work, allows her to celebrate the unique imperfections that arise during the printing process.
Currently serving as the lead product designer for Seatfrog, a tech startup transforming the UK rail industry, Liz works a four-day week, as everyone should. This schedule allows her the freedom to reconnect with her first love: fine art, particularly printmaking. Each linocut she creates is a journey of discovery, filled with unexpected joy and uniqueness.
Based mainly in London but traveling as often as possible, Liz draws vast inspiration from the natural world. Her style is vibrant and fun, capturing the magical intricacies of marine life and lush botanicals in every print, each one distinct and one-of-a-kind.
Liz is part of the London print collective Pressing Plates and has recently had her first print-based exhibition at the boho-beautiful Cave Gallery.
For those in search of truly bespoke artwork, Liz also accepts commissions. Whether it's capturing the essence of marine life, botanicals, or any organic form, she can create a linocut print that caters to your specific aesthetic desires. Additionally, Liz is open to collaborations with other artists and designers, bringing her unique style and fresh perspective to joint projects.
